I took the ACT twice, and I got a 34 (34 math, 34 science, 33 English, and 36 reading) the first time and another 34 (34 math, 33 science, 34 English, 35 reading) the second time for a 35 total super-score. I've heard that colleges view a 34-35-36 ACT as basically the same, and that colleges see the ACT and SAT as equivalent; I would like to attend a top 20 school like Duke or Stanford. So, going back to my question, should I bother taking the SAT?
While some view SAT and ACT scores similarly, remember the SAT offers longer question-answering periods, potentially better reflecting academic ability. If you look at those top 20 schools you're thinking about on Collegevine, you'll see that a lot of the admitted students and just the applicants in general will apply with their SAT.
Schools like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Duke, etc. will not just look at your scores, but I would definitely say take the SAT just in case. There are calculators online that can translate your SAT scores to ACT ones and vice versa, so I would use those after you get your SAT scores back and see which one's better.
I know it might seem tedious to you, but it would be better for you to have two scores from different tests to give yourself a buffer.
On a side note, congratulations on doing so well on the ACT! I wouldn't be surprised if you got a 1530+ on the SAT.
