Hi there!
I am interested in attending BU and was wondering what would make an application "stand out" from others. I have no clue what makes an application stand out and would like advice!
Here are a few current stats:
Leadership:
I am the Vice-President for Student Council, President for our school's National Beta Club, and a House Prefict for our school's house system
Clubs:
I am a member of our school's Model UN club and a chair for our WHO Committee, I am captain of our Math Team, and I also play viola
Internships/Volunteering/Research:
I volunteer 4 hours a week at our local hospital and intern 7 hours a day during the summer, 5 days a week at a local doctor's office; I am also currently helping a professor at a local state college write a research paper on applied mathematics
Academics:
I have a 3.9 GPA (weighted) and am taking 1 AP course (AP Calculus BC), which is the only AP course our school offers; I am also taking 5 dual enrollment classes this year
I am wondering what would add an extra 'punch' to my application and make it stand out from the rest
You have two options: 1) Find a unique, impactful initiative or create impact with the ones you're doing already. 2) Use your essays to showcase your unique personality/experiences. I'm not sure where or what BU is (Boston University?) and therefore can't gauge if it's super competitive or not, so you'll have to decide with that in mind. If you come from a small town or school then you don't have to worry about having another EC. Also, depending on how much time you have, option 1 might not be possible so decide with those factors in mind.
Let me know if you have any questions!
