Hii, I wanted to ask what I can do to seem more "appealing" to colleges when applying. I have a 3.1 unweighted GPA, a 3.6 core GPA, and a 4.3 weighted GPA. I am going to improve those over the summer by retaking to classes I got a D and an F on so hopefully that will boost them. By next year, I will have taken 8 AICE classes, 6 AP, and 9 honors classes, but I didn't get really good exam scores on majority of AICE and AP tho.
My extracurriculars are not too good either. I did art club for one year, LIA (Latinos In Action) 3 years and will be VP of Service Senior year, and then I did volunteering at library 2 years and volunteering at church for 1 year. So far, I only have 210 volunteer hours but I am aiming for 250 for silver cord. I have competed in the county world languages competition for 2 years and on 4 1st place medals and 1 second place. I dont know if helping parents with Uber Eats driving and flea markets counts but I spent a lot of time this year helpng my parents out since we've been pretty bad financially this year.
I am applying for a finance/business major and ant to know what else I can do?
You need to find a very strong EC to do over the summer or early fall since you have summer classes. It is best if it is business related but so long as it has an impact, it should be fine.
Personally, I would find an online business or online activity to do (whether my own or someone else's) for the most flexibility. Also, definitely either apply in-state or at a college that is a great safety since they'll be wanting/accepting most students.
Let me know if you have any questions!
100% agree with this statement. While there are many different online business/activities you could do, I would suggest doing one that corresponds with your major.
Thank you :) I will definitely try to find something.
